OUR ASSEMBLY

The Msgr. Bernard G. Collins Assembly was chartered on March 28, 2005 in the City of Mesa in the Arizona District of the John H. Reddin Province of the Knights of Columbus.

The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to our country through active membership in local Fourth Degree groups (called "assemblies"). Certain members of our assembly serve as honor guards at civic and religious functions, an activity that has brought worldwide recognition to the Knights of Columbus.

Our assembly meets at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 2213 N. Lindsay Road, Mesa, AZ 85213. We meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month in Collins Hall (named after our Assembly's namesake) with the officers meeting at 6:45pm and the general membership at 7:30pm.

St. Peregrine Chapel & Shrine

The Mission of the St. Peregrine Chapel & Shrine on the campus Christ the King Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ is to share the message of St. Peregrine and bring the words of the Gospel to life through acts of charity, compassion, and faith. Through this we will offer hope, and emotional and spiritual help to all who are affected by serious illness, especially cancer. Click HERE to visit the Cancer Shrine Website.

Visitors to the 2,200 square foot domed chapel may pray, walk the grounds, participate in Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, receive emotional and spiritual assistance, information on cancer treatments & related topics, coping skills, and talk to a volunteer trained by the American Cancer Society. The Shrine has been supported by the Knights of Columbus with direct donations and the hosting of the annual benefit golf tournament.

The Memorial Chalice

One of the time-honored traditions of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus is the Memorial Chalice and Chalice Ceremony. When a Fourth Degree member in good standing passes away, a chalice is donated in his memory to the religious order or organization of his choosing. The beautiful Chalice Ceremony is conducted as part of the deceased Sir Knight's wake or funeral vigil. A chalice, engraved with the Sir Knight's name, is presented to the family, used in the memorial Mass, and then delivered to the recipient by representatives of the assembly according to the Sir Knight's wishes.

Our assembly owns chalices, purchased through our Chalice Fund, that are ready to be presented should the need arise. The sacred vessels consist of a gold chalice and a gold paten. A Satin cloth with emblem and gold trim is used to display the chalice and paten during the Chalice Ceremony.

REGISTER TO JOIN THE FATHER McGIVNEY CANONIZATION GUILD

The Knights of Columbus has established a Guild to advance the cause for canonization of our founder, Father Michael McGivney. The Guild gathers evidence on Father McGivney's life and character, collects information about favors people have received as the result of Father McGivney's intercession, promotes Father McGivney's cause for canonization, and offers spiritual benefits to its members.
